Himachal Pradesh Weather Today: The Himachal Pradesh Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain and snow. Lahaul and Spiti regions are expected to receive heavy snowfall on Friday, on the day of Holi. As per, India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Shimla, heavy rain and thunderstorms with lightning will prevail in Kangra, Kullu, and Mandi districts. The weather body has also forecast rain and snow in destinations including Lahaul and Spiti, Kinnaur, and the higher reaches of Chamba, Kangra, and Kullu districts till March 17. Heavy spells of rain are expected on March 14 in these regions. Since Monday evening, several parts of Himachal have been experiencing light rain and snowfall.

Snowfall In Himachal Pradesh

As far as snowfall is concerned, Gondla has recorded 16 cm of snow, while Keylong received 15 cm, Kukumseri saw 3.8 cm, and Hansa had 2.5 cm. On the other hand, light rains have affected myriad locations in Himachal, with Manali receiving 5 mm of rain, Kothi 3.6 mm, Bharmaur 1.5 mm, Bharari 1.4 mm, Sundernagar 1.2 mm, and Shillaro and Kasol both recording 1 mm of rain each.

Temperature In Himachal Pradesh

Despite the inclement weather, there was no major change in the minimum temperatures. Tabo, located in the tribal Lahaul and Spiti district, recorded a low of minus 3 degrees Celsius during the night. In contrast, Una, in the plains, experienced the highest daytime temperature of 30.2 degrees Celsius.

Himachal Pradesh Weather: IMD Issues Advisory

The IMD has cautioned residents and tourists about the potential for disruptions due to the adverse weather conditions, urging them to take precautions during this period of rain, snow, and thunderstorms across various parts of Himachal Pradesh.

IMD Forecast Rain In Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand Till March 15

The IMD forecasts significant weather changes across various regions. From March 10 to 15, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to experience rainfall, heavy snowfall and thunderstorms. Punjab and Haryana may see rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning on March 12 and 13, while Rajasthan is expected to receive showers between March 13 and 15.

Bihar, Assam, Tripura And West Bengal To Receive Rain Till 15

In the eastern part of the country, states like Bihar and West Bengal are bracing for heavy rain. The northeastern states, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya and Tripura, are also set to experience showers from March 11 to 15, with Arunachal Pradesh possibly facing heavy snowfall during this period.
