Himachal Pradesh Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Chamba and Kangra districts, warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls for Monday, August 18. No weather warnings are currently in place for the remaining districts.

The Chandigarh–Manali National Highway remains blocked due to multiple landslides and flash floods caused by intense rainfall in the region.

According to the IMD, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls is expected in Kangra, Una, Mandi, Kullu, and Shimla on August 21 and 22.

Himachal Pradesh Weather Updates:

- IMD has issued a yellow alert for Chamba, Kangra, and Shimla, warning of rain, thunderstorms, and low visibility due to dense fog.

- In Shimla, drizzling rain continued throughout Sunday. Intermittent showers were recorded since morning, with heavy rainfall occurring suddenly in the afternoon before clearing by evening. The weather created difficulties for both residents and tourists. Along with the rain, dense fog significantly reduced visibility, causing problems for drivers.

- The Shimla Police and district administration have urged the public to exercise caution while driving and advised against parking vehicles on the roadside. A yellow alert for heavy rainfall remains in effect for Shimla district on Monday.

- According to jagran.com, heavy rain continued for a long time, and the weather cleared in the evening in Himachal. Due to the heavy rain, people and tourists had to face problems. Along with rain, fog is also continuing in the capital.

- Mandi and Kullu districts have suffered extensive damage due to relentless rainfall. In Kullu, a cloudburst in Arang Nala, located in Sanwad Panchayat of Chauhar Valley, destroyed 10 footbridges, three shops, two houses, two cattle sheds, and swept away two cars and a motorcycle.

- 10 footbridges and six gharats (traditional water mills) were washed away in Batheri Panchayat.
