PM Modi-Nikhil Kamath Podcast: In a light-hearted moment in his debut podcast with Zerodha’s Nikhil Kamath, Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the viral ‘Melodi’ memes featuring him and his Italian counterpart, Georgia Meloni.

During Kamath’s ‘People By WTF’ podcast, PM Modi was asked about his connection to Italy. In the video which is now making rounds on social media, the Zerodha co-founder asked him, "My favourite food is pizza. And pizza is from Italy. And people say you know a lot about Italy... Would you like to say something about that?"

Kamath then drew PM Modi’s attention to the viral ‘Melodi’ memes that made headlines last year after both leaders met during the G7 Summit in Italy.

When the Zerodha co-founder asked the PM if he had seen the memes online, he replied, “Vo toh chalta rehta hai" (That’s just how things go).

The Prime Minister further stated that he does not waste his time on social media memes. “Main usmein apna time kharab nahi karta (I don’t waste my time in that),” PM Modi can be heard saying in Hindi.

The ‘Melodi’ memes, a combination of the names Modi and Meloni, given by social media users after seeing the camaraderie between the two leaders, went viral after a video from the G7 Summit in Italy in June last year featured PM Modi and Italian PM Giorgia Meloni sharing a moment of laughter together.

Following the meeting, Meloni also shared a video selfie with PM Modi and captioned it, “Hello from the Melodi team." The Prime Minister also responded to the X post saying, “Long live India-Italy friendship!"

The duo later discussed food, with the Prime Minister expressing frustration about being labelled a "non-foodie." “I’m not a foodie, whatever is served in any country I eat happily. It is my bad fortune that if you take me to a restaurant, hand me the menu and ask me to choose, I won’t be able to do it," PM Modi said.
