Humayun Kabir’s Babri Masjid Replica: Suspended Trinamool Congress MLA Humayun Kabir will today lay the foundation stone of a mosque modelled on the demolished Babri Masjid at Moradghi near Beldanga, exactly 33 years after the Ayodhya structure was razed on December 6, 1992.

The event, expected to draw around three lakh people on a 25-bigha plot along National Highway-12, has been organised by Kabir despite his suspension from the TMC on Thursday and widespread criticism from political opponents.

Kabir told reporters that two qazis from Saudi Arabia are scheduled to arrive in Kolkata this morning and will be brought to the venue in a special convoy to perform the foundation-laying ceremony. Religious leaders from several states have confirmed their participation.

Babri Masjid Replica Foundation Stone: Preparations In Full Swing

A 150 ft × 80 ft stage capable of seating 400 guests has been erected at an estimated cost of Rs 10 lakh. Around 3,000 volunteers have been deployed since Friday morning to manage the crowd and ensure smooth traffic on NH-12. Food arrangements for thousands of attendees are also in place on-site.

Security Arrangements: Babri Masjid Replica Venue Declared High Security Zone

- After directions from the Calcutta High Court on Friday, the district police have held multiple coordination meetings with Kabir’s team. Nearly 3,000 police personnel, along with Rapid Action Force and Border Security Force units, will be deployed in Beldanga and adjoining Raninagar police station areas.

- The venue has been declared a high-security zone, and the ground must be cleared by 4 pm as per police instructions.

- The programme will begin at 10 am with the recitation of Quranic verses, followed by the formal foundation stone-laying in the afternoon.

TMC Makes Distance From Humayun Kabir

The TMC has distanced itself from the event, while the BJP has termed it “appeasement politics”. The state administration says it is focused solely on maintaining law and order and ensuring free movement on the highway.
