Weather Forecast Today:  With the advent of December, a cold wave has started gripping North India, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for eight states on December 6 and 7.

The weather department said that a cold wave is likely in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, northwest Jharkhand, and northern Odisha. An alert for a cold wave has also been issued for Uttar Pradesh and eastern Rajasthan on December 6 and 7.

While the cold conditions are set to intensify in northern, north-western, and eastern parts of India, the southern part braces for rainfall as the IMD has forecast heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. A yellow alert has been issued for both areas.

Mercury will fall in Delhi

Cold winds are expected to blow across Delhi and the surrounding areas today, increasing the chill. The minimum temperature in the capital is expected to be around 8 degrees Celsius, and the maximum temperature is expected to be 23 degrees Celsius.

The weather department has predicted dense fog along with a cold wave in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir.

Temperature dropped sharply in Rajasthan

The met department has predicted severe cold in Rajasthan too. Due to the cold wave, many areas of Rajasthan are experiencing a drop in mercury. Temperatures in some places have dropped below 2 degrees Celsius. According to the IMD, temperatures in Rajasthan may drop further. In addition, dense fog is also expected in many areas.

Cold wave alert in UP

A cold wave warning has also been issued for several districts in Uttar Pradesh today. Kanpur, Agra, Muzaffarnagar, Bareilly, Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida), and Barabanki are particularly vulnerable to a sharp drop in temperatures, accompanied by a cold wave.

Bihar to witness increased cold

In Bihar, temperatures in Patna and surrounding areas could drop to 4 degrees Celsius. Cold weather is expected to intensify, particularly in Bhojpur, Saran, Buxar, Gopalganj, East and West Champaran.

Weather conditions in other areas

The Meteorological Department predicts that minimum temperatures in northwest India may increase by 2-3 degrees Celsius over the next three days.

In Maharashtra, minimum temperatures will remain unchanged for the next four days, but may drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius after that. Furthermore, minimum temperatures in Gujarat are expected to remain unchanged for the next seven days.
