In a bizarre incident, a 31-year-old businesswoman in Hyderabad was arrested for stalking and kidnapping a television music channel anchor, to marry him. The woman allegedly installed a tracking device on the TV anchor's car to stalk him and monitor his movements, news agency PTI reported citing police.

According to the police, the woman identified as Bhogireddy Trishna, who runs a digital marketing business, saw the pictures of TV anchor Pranav Sistla on a matrimony website and started chatting with the account holder two years ago. However, later she realised that the person whom she was chatting with was using the anchor's picture on the profile of the matrimonial site, instead of his own photo.

Following this, the woman searched through the profile and found the mobile number, which belonged to the anchor. She then contacted the anchor through an instant messaging app, but he informed her that an unknown individual had used his picture to create a fake account on the matrimony site, for which he had registered a complaint with the Cyber Crime police station.

According to the police, the woman continued to send messages to the anchor following which he blocked her. Following this, the woman reportedly planned to kidnap the anchor with the intention of marrying him, thinking that she could get things sorted out.

The four hired men kidnapped the anchor on February 11 and took him to the woman's office, where he was severely beaten. Fearing for his life, the TV anchor agreed to respond to the woman’s calls and only then was he let off, police said.

The anchor later filed a complaint with the Uppal police station, and a case was registered under sections 363 (kidnapping), 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful imprisonment), and pertinent portions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police arrested the accused woman along with four men she hired to carry out his abduction. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
