Abhay Singh, an IIT graduate and aerospace engineer-turned-spiritual leader aka ‘IITian Baba’, who left his lucrative career to pursue spirituality, has refuted claims that he 'disappeared' from the Juna Akhara's ashram during the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

Singh told Aaj Tak that reports about his alleged 'disappearance' from the 16 Madi Ashram at the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela were ‘wrong news’. He clarified that he was asked to leave the Akhara's ashram, not that he had gone missing.

“The operators of the Madi Ashram asked me to leave at night. They think I’ve become famous and might expose something about them, so they claim I’ve gone for secret meditation. Those people are talking nonsense,” Singh told the leading Hindi news channel.

The IITian Baba’s clarification comes after several reports claimed that his parents had visited the 16 Madi Ashram in search of him but found he had already left the place. However, Singh asserted that he did not move to any unknown location and was still present at the religious gathering.

Singh also launched an attack on Seer Someshwar Puri of the Juna Akhara, challenging his claim that he was his disciple. “I had already told him there is no guru-disciple relationship between us. Now that I’ve become famous, he’s made himself my guru,” Singh told Aaj Tak.

Singh Refutes Mental Health Issues Claim

The IIT Baba strongly refuted allegations from fellow seers that he was suffering from a disturbed mental state due to his frequent interactions with the media. These seers had also accused him of drug consumption and suggested that it would be best for him to leave the ashram.

In response, the former engineer strongly defended his mental health, questioning the authority of those casting doubts. “They should know more than me to give me a certificate,” Singh stated, asserting that only he could truly assess his own stability.
