IMD Weather Forecast: A significant drop in temperatures is bringing an intensifying cold wave to most of India, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a cold wave alert for Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and eastern Rajasthan.

The weather department on Saturday forecasted heavy rain in several parts of the country, after an intense downpour accompanied by strong winds made life difficult in most parts of South India.

Heavy Rainfall In THESE States

In view of inclement weather conditions in South India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast for heavy rain across several states. According to the IMD, heavy rain accompanied by strong winds is likely in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands until November 17.

The weather department has also issued an alert for rain in parts of Karnataka, Telangana and Maharashtra.

Cold Wave Alert For THESE States

The Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave alert for parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on November 15 and 16. A cold wave is also likely in Uttar Pradesh and eastern Rajasthan during the same period.

The weather department has advised residents of Uttar Pradesh to prepare for poor visibility, as light to dense fog is expected to blanket these areas for the next five days.

Temperatures Plunge Across North And Central India

The weather department has forecast that the minimum temperatures are expected to drop sharply in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The minimum temperature in many areas of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand is likely to go below six degrees Celsius.

Several parts of Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Odisha are currently recording temperatures between 7 and 10 degrees Celsius, and similar conditions are likely to prevail in northern Haryana, eastern Rajasthan, central Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and northern Chhattisgarh.
