Weather Update: A cold wave continues to grip North India, with continuous snowfall activity in the hilly states leading to a significant drop in temperatures throughout the plains. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that North India will experience persistent cold wave conditions and dense morning fog in isolated pockets over parts of East Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, the IMD has forecast isolated to scattered rain with thunderstorms today in the country's southern regions, including South Kerala and South Tamil Nadu.
Delhi Weather Update
The national capital, already battling "very poor" air quality, will now see a significant drop in temperatures and fog conditions, primarily in the morning hours, which are expected to persist for the next few days.
The weather department has forecast that brisk northwesterly winds will further intensify the cold, even as the city's minimum temperatures are expected to fall slightly below normal.
UP Weather Update
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of severe intensification of the cold wave across many districts of Uttar Pradesh, starting today and persisting for the next two days.
The cold wave driven by northwesterly winds is causing minimum temperatures to fall significantly below normal in many areas, Jagran.com reported. The temperature is expected to dip even lower under the influence of westerly winds.
Rainfall In THESE States
The weather department has forecast cloudy skies accompanied by light to moderate rain in West Bengal and Odisha today. Meanwhile, the IMD has issued a rain forecast for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry till November 11, signalling prolonged wet conditions in the south.
Authorities have advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the Arabian Sea (Comorin area) from December 8th-13th, and the Bay of Bengal, including the Gulf of Mannar, the southwest and southeast Bay of Bengal, along Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Sri Lanka during December 8th-13th, Hindustan Times reported.
Cold Wave To Intensify
The IMD has issued a cold wave warning for eight major cities across North and East India, including Purnia, Kishanganj, and Patna in Bihar; Ranchi in Jharkhand; and Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, and Prayagraj (and their adjacent areas) in Uttar Pradesh.
Residents in these areas are advised to take precautionary measures as temperatures are expected to plunge significantly over the coming days.
