India and Pakistan tensions escalated after Pakistan attempted drone attacks on several locations in India on the intervening night of May 8 and May 9, which India neutralised successfully, preventing them from exploding on the land.
As the updates from the shelling-affected regions continue to come, from a suicide attack in Rajouri to strikes on Hazira port in Gujarat, there is a wave of fake information and unverified news across social media. Press Information Bureau’s fact-checking team has continuously been checking fabricated news and debunking misinformation from the last few days.
From last night to morning on Friday, PIB debunked a series of misleading and false claims that surfaced on social media.
Air Strike On Hazira Port In Gujarat
PIB, through an X post on Friday morning, clarified that the widely circulated video of the explosion at the Hazira port in Gujarat’s Surat, with the claim of an attack on the port, is fake.
Drone Attack In Jalandhar: Later Found Fake
A widely circulated video on social media claimed a drone attack in Punjab’s Jalandhar. Which, later, upon verification, was found to be of a farm fire at 7:39 pm, before any confirmation of drone attacks or other aerial activity.

PIB confirmed that no such fidayeen or suicide attack occurred on any army cantonment. The false claims were solely intended to mislead and cause confusion.

Attack On Ambala Airbase
The claim that the Indian military launched an attack on Amritsar from Ambala Airbase has been categorically denied by the Ministry of Defence, as cited by PIB.
This development followed the escalated tension between India and Pakistan, originating from a terrorist attack in the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. India launched a military action against Pakistan to avenge the killings in the terrorist attack, targeting nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
