The tensions between India and Pakistan rose after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack carried out by Pakistan-backed The Resistance Front (TRF). 26 civilians were killed based on their religious identity in Pahalgam's Baisaran valley.
In retaliation, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 and destroyed terror headquarters, camps, and launch pads of Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Although India confirmed that it didn't target military or civilians, Pakistan resorted to heightened unprovoked and indiscriminate firing, followed by drones and missile attacks on Indian bases, airports, and other critical infrastructures in Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, and Punjab. Most of these attempts were foiled by the air defence systems. The situation has escalated as Pakistan has now started targeting the civilian population. So far, Pakistan's shelling and drone attacks have claimed over dozen innocent lives.
