The Indian Army on Sunday reacted to the alleged violent assault on four SpiceJet employees by an army personnel at the Srinagar airport, saying that it is fully committed to upholding the highest standards of discipline.

The video of the assault went viral on social media on Sunday, which prompted public scrutiny and a subsequent investigation.

In a statement, the Army said, "The matter involving an alleged altercation between an Army personnel and airline staff at Srinagar Airport on 26 July 2025 has come to the notice of the Indian Army. The Indian Army is committed to upholding the highest standards of discipline and conduct and takes all allegations seriously. Full cooperation is being extended to the authorities in investigating the case".

In a separate statement from the Army headquarters, the force stated that it is fully committed to maintaining discipline and mutual respect in all civil spaces across the country.

The incident took place on July 26 at the boarding gate of the flight SG-386 en route to Delhi from Srinagar. What started with a disagreement over the excess baggage turned into a full-fledged altercation with an assault on four ground staffers.

As per several reports, the violent episode started after the staff demanded payment for carrying 16 kg of luggage against the permitted 7 kg.

The airline stated that one staff member suffered a spinal fracture and another sustained jaw injuries. In its statement, the airline said, "The employees were attacked with punches, repeated kicks, and a queue stand. One staffer collapsed unconscious, but the passenger continued kicking the fainted employee. Another was bleeding from the nose and mouth after a kick to the jaw while trying to assist the injured colleague".
