Indian Families Take Shelter As Missile Alerts Sweep Israel; Schools Shut, Gatherings Banned

Indian nationals living and working in Israel have taken refuge in underground bunkers as tensions between Israel and Iran sharply escalated following missile exchanges.

Air-raid sirens were heard across several Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv, with visuals showing residents rushing to shelters. Videos circulating online captured families huddled inside bunkers as the sounds of interceptions and distant impacts echoed overhead.

Many of the Indian nationals, including construction workers and other migrant labourers supporting families back home, are now directly affected by the conflict. Local reports suggest that members of the Gujarati community in Israel are safe so far, though anxiety remains high amid continuing alerts.

The escalation followed Israel’s announcement that, in coordination with the United States, it carried out strikes on multiple sites in Tehran where senior Iranian political and security officials were reportedly gathered. Israeli authorities said assessments of the operation were ongoing and indicated readiness for further developments.

Iran responded with missile attacks targeting Israel, triggering nationwide alerts. Schools were closed, public gatherings were banned, and some hospital patients were shifted to underground facilities as precautionary measures.
