Indian citizens staying in Israel have expressed concern over their safety amid soaring tensions in the Middle East after Israel and Iran witnessed a fervid exchange of missiles in the last few days. Several Indians have shared videos of Iranian projectiles intercepted by Israel. Talking to several media outlets, they also narrated their ordeal of staying in a strife-hit nation.

Nilabja Roy Chowdhary, who belongs to Kolkata and is studying medicine at Bar-Ilan University in the Israeli capital Tel Aviv, said the situation was scary and tensions were much higher than the erstwhile unrest, when Hamas launched a surprise attack in Tel Aviv on October 7 last year.

“A few days ago, a bomb dropped barely 100 metres from a friend's home. A CCTV camera captured the footage. I could have been in his house too,” he said, as per HT.

"The situation is dire, we've never faced such a severe threat before," said a caregiver from Telangana, while sharing footage of missiles striking buildings in the capital.

Israeli authorities have asked the Indian nationals to seek refuge in the nearest bomb shelters. "We are safe in the shelter. There's no need for concern, but as soon as the siren sounds, you must enter the safety room. I'm from Telangana and currently residing in Tel Aviv," an Indian national is heard saying in a video shared by news agency PTI.

Puspur Sarangadhar, another caregiver from Telangana, said they came to Israel for better earning opportunities but do not feel safe anymore in view of the recent escalation in the region, as per TOI.

On the other hand, the Indian embassy in Israel issued an advisory for its citizens. "Please exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel within the country, and stay near safety shelters. The Embassy is closely monitoring the situation and is in regular contact with Israeli authorities to ensure the safety of all our nationals," it stated.

Besides, the MEA on Wednesday asked its citizens to refrain from travelling to Iran, amid Israel’s vow to avenge the missile attack.
