GRP Steps Up Monitoring To Prevent Nefarious Activities
Indian Railways has made elaborate arrangements to stop drug peddling during the festive season. Railway Superintendent Veena Kumari held a briefing with all police personnel at Muzaffarpur Junction and ordered time-to-time monitoring of passenger movement. Three special teams of the State Railway Police were dispatched to Barauni, Gorakhpur, and Ballia.
Additionally, the border railway stations of Gorakhpur and Ballia (UP) and Barauni railway station have been asked to conduct awareness campaigns among rail passengers and maintain constant surveillance on drug gangs and antisocial elements. These teams will operate 24 hours a day.
Photo and video recordings of passengers boarding all trains departing from the originating station will be taken. These will be sent to the relevant monitoring officer via WhatsApp. The special team has been provided with sound system equipment, duty registers, duty cards, pamphlets, banners, etc. Additionally, an awareness rally was organised among passengers at Muzaffarpur Junction under the leadership of the Railway Superintendent of Police.
Passengers were urged to provide the necessary information and assistance to the Muzaffarpur Railway Police. Railway Station Officer Ranjit Kumar, Police Inspector Major Raj Kishore Singh, and other police officers were present at the scene.
Trains remain crowded during festivals, leading to a lot of nefarious activities along the border areas. Therefore, the railways have stepped up their screening process to prevent such activities.
