Jaisalmer School Holiday: Owing to heavy rain alert in Rajasthan, Jaisalmer district administration announced a holiday on September 9 in government, non-government schools and Anganwadis in the city. The directive was issued in a fresh notification by district collector Pratap Singh on Monday.
The order came in the backdrop of the India Meteorological Department’s forecast of heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours. The order issued by the authorities states that the holiday has been declared for all students from Class 1 to Class 12, as reported by Mid-day. According to the authorities, the decision has been taken keeping in view the safety of the students and any educational institution found violating these laws will face strict disciplinary actions.
But the order does not give holiday to the academic and non-academic staff of the schools and Anganwadi centres, who have been asked to report to their respective locations as per their scheduled timings.
The public have been urged to remain alert, stay in safe areas and adhere to the official directions timely.

Flooding In Dausa District
Rajasthan has been facing torrential rains for the past few days. This has led to flooding in the Eastern part of the region. One of the worst affected areas has been the Dausa district which is bearing the brunt of canal overflows and waterlogging on several roads.
According to Dausa District Magistrate (DM) Devender Kumar, “The district received over 177 mm of rain. Additionally, the Haripura dam was overflowing; hence, relief teams have been placed on alert."
He also asserted, "Dausa received around 177 mm of rain yesterday. The Haripura dam is overflowing, and relief teams are on alert. Administrative officials are present on the spot. We urge residents to report any incident to the control room."

Rajasthan Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Development, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore visited the flood-hit areas and assured the government’s support for the affected residents. According to the minister, the government has already allocated Rs 16 crore for the repair of almost 650 schools and 16 dams.
Rathore, further added, "The government is fully aware. The administration here is very active... The government has allocated Rs. 16 Crore for the repair of almost 650 schools and 16 dams... The crops have suffered severe damage; it will be compensated."
