Two Jaish Terrorists Killed In Encounter In Jammu And Kashmir's Kishtwar, Search Operation Underway

Kishtwar Terror Encounter: Two terrorists affiliated with Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) were killed by security forces in a remote area in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. The Army said the terrorists were killed during the 'Trashi-I' operation in the general area of Passerkut in Chatroo belt and recovered arms and ammunition that included two AK-47 rifles from them.

Earlier, a gunfight broke out between the security forces and the terrorists around 10 am. A joint party of Army, police and CRPF launched a search operation after they received information about the presence of two Pakistani terrorists affiliated with the prescribed Jaish-e-Mohammad.

The terrorists, hiding inside a mud house on the foothills of a hill, opened fire on the approaching troops, leading to an intense gunfight. One terrorist has been killed in the ongoing operation so far.

Nagrota headquartered White Knight Corps of the Army in a social media post said that the anti-militant operation was underway in the general area of Passerkut, Kishtwar. The troops cordoned off the area amid the gunfight.

Armu Launches 'Operation Trashi-I'

The anti-militant operation, launched by the Army, has been given a code name - 'Operation Trashi-I'. Officials said the security forces, including the Army, J&K Police and the CRPF, launched a CASO (Cordon & Search Operation) in the forest area of Chatroo in Kishtwar district after receiving intelligence input about the presence of two to three Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists hiding in the densely forested area.

The Chatroo forest belt witnessed nearly half a dozen gunfights between terrorists and security forces last month, resulting in the killing of a soldier and a terrorist.
