At least 9 people died while over 78 were injured were injured after a bus overturned in the Orsa Valley, under the Mahuadand police station area of Jharkhand's Latehar district.
According to a report by Jagran.com, citing sources, a large number of injured were being brought to the government hospital in Mahuadand. According to the initial information, the bus was travelling from Chhattisgarh's Balrampur to Lodh Falls. Suddenly, the bus overturned in the valley, causing widespread panic.
The bus was reportedly nearly 90 people, and the bodies of five women, who died on the spot, were recovered. Two others died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. The bus was heading to a wedding at Mahuadanr in Latehar Some injured people are also reported to be trapped beneath the bus.
Earlier in the day, Superintendent of Police Kumar Gaurav told news agency PTI, "A bus carrying a marriage party was coming from Balrampur district in Chhattisgarh for a wedding at Mahuadanr in Latehar. The bus overturned, and five people died on the spot. The injured were taken to a hospital".
Taking cognisance of the incident, Chief Minister Hemant Soren asked the Latehar deputy commissioner to provide appropriate medical facilities to the injured.

In a post on X, CM Soren tagged Latehar DC directing, "Take immediate cognizance and provide appropriate health facilities to the injured."
SDM Vipin Kumar Dubey said 60 injured were admitted to Mahuadanr community health centre and over 20 at a private hospital.
"Thirty-two people, who are serious, are being referred to RIMS Ranchi for better treatment," he said.
The deceased were identified as Reshanti Devi (35), Prema Devi (37), Sita Devi (45), Sonamati Devi (55), Sukhna Bhuiyan (40) and Vijay Bhuiyan. Identification of a woman, who died in Latehar hospital, is underway, Dubey said.
The bus driver said that the brakes of the bus were failed. "The brakes of the bus failed. Despite attempts to stop the vehicle using the handbrake and switching off the engine, I could not regain control, and the bus eventually overturned," he said.
