As the Jharkhand Assembly elections approach, the AJSU Party, a key ally of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the state, has announced its first list of candidates. Party chief Sudesh Mahto will run from Silli, while senior member Lambodar Mahto is preparing to contest from the Gomia Assembly seat.

Sunita Chaudhary, the wife of Giridih MP Chandraprakash Chaudhary, will compete in Ramgarh, and Neeru Shanti Bhagat, the spouse of former MLA Kamal Kishore Bhagat, will stand for election in Lohardaga.

The party is yet to reveal its candidates for the Manoharpur and Dumri seats.

In 2019, Mahto secured the Silli assembly seat with a victory margin of 20,195 votes against his closest competitor, Seema Devi from the JMM. The AJSU Party announced that Sunita Choudhary will run from Ramgarh and Neeru Shanti Bhagat from Lohardaga.

Elections for the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly are set to take place in two phases on November 13 and 20, with vote counting planned for November 23.

According to the seat-sharing agreement, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) members will contest the following seats: the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) Party will run in 10 seats, the JD(U) will contest 2, and the LJP (Ram Vilas) will compete for 1 seat, while the BJP will field candidates in the remaining 68 seats.
