The JMM-led alliance, which stormed to power in Jharkhand last month, secured 56 seats in the 81-member assembly, while the BJP-led NDA managed 24 seats. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), which emerged as a surprise in the Jharkhand assembly elections by winning four of the six seats it contested, received one ministerial berth.
In 2019, the RJD had won only the Chatra seat, with Satyanand Bhokta emerging victorious. The JMM secured a total of seven berths, including that of CM Soren, in the 12-member cabinet. The JMM contested 43 seats and won 34, the highest number of constituencies ever won by the party in assembly polls.
Congress secured four ministerial berths after winning 16 seats in the assembly elections. Meanwhile, CPI(ML) Liberation, which secured two seats as an ally of the INDIA bloc, previously announced that it would not be part of the cabinet.
The BJP contested 68 seats, won 21, and emerged as the second-largest party in the assembly. After Soren took the oath last Saturday, it was decided that an assembly session would be held from December 9 to 12.
