While BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis is set to be sworn in as Maharashtra CM for the third time today, there is uncertainty regarding whether Eknath Shinde will be appointed as his deputy, despite ongoing speculation that he might be.

"None of the Shinde Sena MLAs want to become the Chief Minister. If Shinde does not become the Deputy Chief Minister, then we also do not want any ministerial post," Samant said.
The oath-taking ceremony, scheduled for 5:30 pm at Azad Maidan in Mumbai, will be attended by prominent BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with several other key figures.
Speaking on Eknath Shinde's pending decision to join the Mahayuti 2.0 government, Shiv Sena leader Deepak Kesarkar said that all party MLAs had met with him on Wednesday evening, urging him to accept the deputy's post.
"Even Devendra Fadnavis accepted the post of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister after the central BJP leadership insisted (in 2022). Our parties are different, but principles and ideologies are the same," Kesarkar added.
In the recently concluded Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024, the Mahayuti alliance secured an impressive 230 out of 288 Assembly seats. The BJP emerged as the dominant party, winning 132 seats, marking its highest-ever performance in the state's history. Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena and NCP claimed 57 and 41 seats, respectively.
