Namma Metro Update: The startup city Bengaluru is all set to welcome an addition to its vast urban transport network, the Namma Metro Yellow Line, scheduled to be launched in late January 2025. This 19.15 km long new driverless metro service will connect RV Road to Bommasandra, providing faster commutes for the residents of these areas. With a budget of Rs 5,745 crore, this service will connect several of the IT and BT hubs and will also improve access to key areas like Jayadeva Hospital, BTM Layout, Silk Board Junction, and Electronics City.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced that a total of 24 CCTV cameras will be installed inside the metro coaches. The metro service will operate on an elevated track, and the metro stations will be located on roads and double-decker flyovers, providing a surreal experience to the passengers.

The BMRCL announced that the Yellow Line metro will also have Jayadeva Hospital station as India's tallest metro station at a height of 39 meters. The station will also include an underpass, road, flyover, and platforms and will act as an interchange hub for the Yellow and Pink Lines.

The BMRCL also informed that three trains will operate at 30-minute intervals, which will be further expanded to 36 trains by August 2025. The trains will be manufactured with international technologies and domestic production, with some manufactured in China and others in West Bengal. The new metro line is expected to provide relief to a great number of IT professionals.

However, the new project has its own share of challenges, including the lack of a pedestrian pathway at the Bommasandra station. Commuters traveling to nearby areas such as Jigani, Bommasandra, Chandapura, and Attibele may face difficulties due to the non availability of the pedestrian pathway, as it is a very busy area. The BMRCL has assured that a team is working to find a solution to ensure that no one suffers because of the new ambitious project.
