Jharkhand Weather: India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ranchi, has issued an orange alert for rain, thunderstorms and strong winds for multiple places in Jharkhand on May 19. The alert has been issued for strong winds blowing at 50 to 60 kmph along with thunder and lightning in the remaining parts of the state except the southern parts - East and West Singhbhum, Simdega and Saraikela Kharsawan. A yellow alert has been issued for the southern part of the state. The conditions will remain the same on May 20, 21 and 22 as well. The wind speed will be 40 to 50 km per hour and a yellow alert has been issued regarding this.

Jharkhand Weather Forecast

Meteorologist Abhishek Anand said that there is a strong possibility of light to moderate rainfall with thundershowers at many places in the state during the next 24 hours. This situation will continue till May 21.

There is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall at some places on May 22, 23 and 24. The temperature may drop by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius for the next three days - May 19, 20 and 21.

After May 21, there is a possibility of getting relief from the heat. During the last 24 hours in Jharkhand, light to moderate rainfall occurred along with incidents of thunder and lightning at most places in the state.

The highest rainfall of 44.2 mm was recorded in Bokaro Thermal. The highest maximum temperature of 43.8 degree Celsius was recorded in Daltonganj and the lowest minimum temperature of 21 degree Celsius was recorded in Latehar. The maximum temperature in capital Ranchi was recorded at 37.5 degree Celsius and the minimum at 22.4 degree Celsius.

Heavy rain on Sunday in Ranchi and surrounding areas made the weather pleasant. The rain that lasted for about an hour, exposed the poor sanitation system of the city. The power supply got affected in several areas.

Traffic was affected due to waterlogging on the road in lower areas including - Naga Tower, Distillery Bridge, Kokar, Hindpidhi on the way from Chutia, Argora Chowk to Kathal Mor. There was a traffic jam on the road from Kanta Toli to Kokar. Three electricity poles fell down in Khodha Toli. The road has also been closed. A huge tree fell on NH 33 near Lowadih Chowk, causing a road blockage in which several ambulances got stuck. 10 to 12 trees fell simultaneously on the road of Namkum Industrial Area, due to which the traffic was completely affected.

Compensation Within A Week In Case Of Death Due To Lightning Or Other Disaster: State Health Minister Irfan Ansari 

State Health Minister Irfan Ansari has said that in case of death of any person due to lightning or any other disaster, his dependent will receive compensation within a week.

He also announced that the government will provide a financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh to the dependents of 25-year-old Babujan Soren after his untimely death due to lightning in Bodhbandh of Jamtara.

Irfan had come to meet the victim's family on Sunday. He also announced to adopt the deceased's two younger brothers and said that he would keep both the children at his residence in Ranchi and educate them.

He added that the amount will be transferred to the account of the victim's family within a week.
