Jharkhand Weather Today: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an alert for heavy rains and thunderstorms until September 26. A yellow alert was issued for Simdega, West Singhbhum, Saraikela-Kharsawan, and East Singhbhum districts, among others, due to a fresh low-pressure area brewing over the Bay of Bengal, the IMD said on Sunday. The state may experience isolated thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds reaching 30-40 km per hour, along with rain during this period.
Temperatures are expected to decrease by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next three days, according to reports. In the 24 hours leading up to 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Palganj in Giridih district recorded the highest rainfall in the state at 70 mm, followed by Nandadih with 65.6 mm and Koner with 54.4 mm. Jamshedpur recorded the highest temperature in the state at 36 degrees Celsius, while Latehar recorded the lowest at 21.7 degrees Celsius.
The state has experienced an 18 percent surplus in rainfall this monsoon season, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. Since June 1, the state has received 1,140 mm of rainfall compared to the normal 962.4 mm, the IMD added.

The monsoon period in Jharkhand typically lasts from June 1 to September 30. However, between September 1 and September 19, only 117.2 mm of rain was recorded, compared to the normal average of 152.1 mm, marking a 23 percent deficit for the month so far.
