The Indian Army on Tuesday morning thwarted an infiltration bid in Jammu and Kashmir’s Battal Sector. One soldier was injured during the intense gunfight between militants and security forces. The counter-terror operation is still underway.

“Alert troops foiled an #infiltration bid by effectively engaging infiltrating #terrorists with effective fire in the #Battal Sector at 0300h. During the exchange of heavy fire, one braveheart has been injured. Operations are continuing,” the Indian Army's White Knight Corps (16 Corps) said in an X post.

This was the second attack in 24 hours in Rajouri. On Monday, terrorists attacked the house of a Village Defence Guard (VDG) member in the Gundha area of Rajouri. However, the Army's swift response to the offensive prevented a major loss. Parshottam Kumar, recently awarded the Shaurya Chakra by President Droupadi Murmu, was the target of the attack. His uncle, Vijay Kumar, was injured, and a cow was killed in the gunfire.

JK has been witnessing a streak of terrorist attacks for the last few months. Earlier, four Army personnel, including an officer, were killed in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda. Additionally, a policeman also died in the operation. All the personnel were critically injured during a gunfight and succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment.

An extensive search operation is underway in the Jammu area after the recent incidents of terror attacks. Moreover, the Army is being redeployed in the hilly areas of Kathua and Doda to eliminate the terrorists breeding in the region. Besides, extra companies of central forces will also be positioned in the Jammu region.

These security forces will not only conduct operations to search and eliminate terrorists but will also involve local villagers in the campaign to destroy the terrorists and their ecosystem.
