J-K Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that Northwest India, including portions of Jammu and Kashmir, would have a much-needed respite from the scorching heat from May 1–5. According to the weather department, Jammu and Kashmir is likely to see light to moderate rain with a slight chance of snow in the higher reaches from May 1.

In several areas of the Jammu and Kashmir region, including the hill stations of Pahalgam, that saw a terrorist attack on April 22, and Gulmarg, temperatures have risen by five to six degrees above normal in the wake of devastating rains, flash floods, and landslides in Ramban.

Heatwave conditions are in place in Jammu, where temperatures have reached 40.6°C and are expected to stay so till April 30. Temperatures in the region have been well above average in various areas, including Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad.
