BJP MP Kangana Ranaut acknowledged on Wednesday that she was rebuked by the party leadership for her controversial comments on the farmers' protests over the now-repealed farm laws. In an interview with India Today, Kangana Ranaut admitted to being reprimanded and expressed her willingness to be more cautious in the future, stating, "I was reprimanded by the party leadership and that's fine with me. I do not think I am the final voice of the party. I am not that crazy or stupid to believe that."
Kangana Ranaut reflected on the impact of her remarks, acknowledging that she has "a long way to go" and expressing regret if her statements had harmed the party's cause or policies. She highlighted her commitment to align with the party's stance, noting, "If I have genuinely hurt the party's cause and its position or policy, there is nobody who could be more hurt than me."
"I am looking forward to being more careful with my words and aligning to the party's policies. Because for the BJP, hum rahe ya na rahe, Bharat rehna chahiye (the country is more important than an individual)," she further added as quoted by India Today.
The recent controversy involving the Bollywood actor started after she suggested that a "Bangladesh-like situation" could have developed during the farmers' protests if not for India's strong leadership. She claimed that "bodies were hanging and rapes were taking place" during the protests, alleging the involvement of foreign forces like China and the US.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) swiftly distanced itself from Kangana Ranaut's statements, publicly disagreeing with her remarks. In an official statement, the party clarified that Mandi MP’s comments do not reflect its position and stated that she is not authorised to speak on BJP's policies.
"The statement made by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut in the context of the farmers' movement is not the opinion of the party. BJP disagrees with the statement made by Kangana Ranaut. On behalf of the party, Kangana is neither permitted nor authorized to make statements on party policy issues," BJP said in a statement.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to the principles of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas', a philosophy centred on collective effort, inclusive growth, universal trust and social harmony.
