MUDA Scam: A day after Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvathi returned the 14 compensatory sites that were given to her by Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA), the chief minister emphasised that he was ‘surprised’ by his wife’s move. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Siddaramaiah said, “My wife Parvati has returned the lands that were given in the form of compensation for the land that was seized without carrying out Muda land acquisition in Mysore.”
"My wife, who is upset with the political conspiracy going on against me, has taken a decision to return these plots, which has surprised me too," he further added.

Notably, Siddaramaiah’s wife wrote a letter to the MUDA commissioner, surrendering 14 plots allotted to her, hours after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) ) booked her in the money laundering case linked to the MUDA scam. The MUDA sites were allocated to Parvathi in compensation for around 3 acres of land MUDA received in Mysore's Kesare village.
Criticising the Opposition for resorting to ‘politics of hate’, the Karnataka CM stated that his wife “is a victim of the politics of hate” and "is suffering psychological torture". “However, I respect my wife's decision to return the plots,” he added.

Here's What MUDA Commissioner Said
After Siddaramaiah’s wife decided to return 14 controversial sites, MUDA Commissioner AN Raghunandan said, “We won’t decline if someone returns MUDA property, we have already discussed this.” "I am in possession of a letter written by Siddaramaiah's wife regarding her intention to return 14 plots (of land). The Chief Minister's son, Yatindra Siddaramaiah, came to our office and delivered the letter. We will take legal advice for the next step,” he told reporters in Mysuru.
He said that MUDA will cooperate with Lokayukta’s investigation and provide all documents requested by them. He also said that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials have not yet contacted them.
What is the MUDA Scam?
The Lokayukta Police filed an FIR against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and several others on September 27 in connection with an investigation of the alleged MUDA land allotment scam. This development comes after accusations that the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) improperly allocated 14 prime sites in Mysuru city to Siddaramaiah's wife, among other beneficiaries.
The FIR, lodged by the Mysuru Lokayukta, cites various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 351, 420, 340, and 120B, outlining serious allegations of conspiracy and fraud.
