A Muslim woman and a Bajrang Dal activist got married in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district, sparking a controversy among the Hindutva groups. The couple, who were in a relationship for three years, had eloped on November 30 after the woman’s mother refused to give consent for their marriage.
The Hindutva activists from Surathkal town celebrated the marriage and claimed that “Ayesha has become Akshatha”. They also shared a photo of the couple in Hindu attire on social media.
According to reports, the Bajrang Dal activist, identified as Prashanth Bhandari first sought permission from Ayesha’s mother to marry her daughter, to which she had insisted that she would decide after consulting her family members but the couple eloped that same night.
