Karnataka: Man Rapes, Impregnates 16-Year-Old Daughter In Gadag; Arrested

Medical examination revealed the girl was 31 weeks pregnant. Upon confrontation, she disclosed that her father had been sexually assaulting her repeatedly over the past year whenever the rest of the family was away. She alleged that he threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone.

Based on the mother’s complaint, the Mulagund police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused was arrested on Tuesday, said a senior police officer. The girl has received counselling and further steps will be taken after a comprehensive medical evaluation.

Police added that the victim has a 20-year-old sister working as a nurse and a younger brother studying in Class 5. A detailed investigation into the allegations is underway.

This comes after a recent distressing incident occurred in Dakshina Kannada, where a man was booked for sexually assaulting and impregnating a minor. The girl, a college student, alleged that an auto driver known to her raped her in August 2024 and continued to sexually assault her multiple times until October. The accused had initially entered her home under the pretext of asking for water and later threatened her.

A case has been registered at the Dakshina Kannada Women’s Police Station under BNS Sections 64(2)(m), 352(3), and POCSO Act Sections 5(l) and 6 after a minor girl was found pregnant during a hospital visit.
