Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Sunday emphasised that he is the "disciplined soldier" of Congress, further dismissing rumours of his resignation as the state chief of the party. While speaking on a possible Cabinet reshuffle, Shivakumar stated that the decision will be taken by the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah after discussions with senior party officials. He stated that he came to Delhi to invite Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge to the foundation-laying ceremony for 100 new Congress offices in Karnataka.
While talking to the reporters in Delhi, Shivakumar asserted that he was ready to do everything that was assigned to him, adding that he is the "disciplined soldier" of Congress. "There is a foundation-laying ceremony and several other events. Who will handle all of that? I have to do it. Why would I say I will resign (as state Congress president)? That situation hasn't arisen yet," Shivakumar was quoted as saying by PTI. "I am dedicated to serving the party as a disciplined soldier, doing whatever tasks are assigned to me," he added.
Shivakumar also stated that he has worked tirelessly for Congress, adding that the party will return to the party in 2028. "I am not the one to blackmail the Congress. I have built this party and worked tirelessly day and night for it. I will continue to do so in the future. Our party will return to power (in Karnataka) in 2028," Shivakumar told the reporters.
