A video of a woman, who was allegedly paraded naked in Karnataka's Belagavi seven months ago, has gone viral now, according to police. The incident came to light on Thursday, when the daughter of the survivour filed a complaint. It is said that the incident happened because the woman objected to an encroachment on her land that the government had granted her.

The police said that they have opened an investigation into the case in response to the survivor's daughter's complaint. The complainant claimed the accused threatened to harm her family if she filed a complaint, in addition to beating her and parading her nude.

According to the police report, the survivor and her son were physically assaulted on July 31, 2023, by her rivals for raising questions about the encroachment of half an acre on the three acres of land that the government had granted her.

For further investigation, senior district administration officials from Belagavi have camped in the village.

Similarly, on December 11, 2023, in Vantamuri village of Belagavi district, a woman was beaten after her son ran away with a girl from their community. The 42-year-old woman was allegedly attacked, stripped, paraded naked, and tied to an electric pole in the taluk by a group of people.

The girl was to marry another man the following day after her family had set her up for marriage. The couple's enraged relatives were curious about their whereabouts.
