Bengaluru Weather Today: Bengaluru residents woke up to heavy rain on Sunday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting more showers throughout the day. The city is bracing for thunderstorms and persistent rainfall after a week of intense downpours. Many areas are already waterlogged, leading to significant traffic delays, power outages, and flooding in various localities, which has disrupted daily life.
The IMD has issued a continued rainfall alert for Bengaluru, warning of thundershowers and high precipitation expected in the evenings and nights over the next few days. Officials from the state's natural disaster monitoring centre reported that several regions will experience ongoing heavy rain as part of pre-monsoon activity.
Bengaluru Weather Forecast
Warnings have also been issued for moderate rain and gusty winds, reaching speeds of 30–40 km/h, affecting Bengaluru Urban and nearby districts. As the week progresses, the rainfall is anticipated to increase.
Bengaluru Weather Forecast For Next 6 Days
April 20: Minimum temperature of 22.0 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 33.0 degrees Celsius, with a partly cloudy sky and occasional rain.
April 21-23: Minimum temperature of 21.0 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 33.0 degrees Celsius, remaining partly cloudy.
April 24-25: Minimum temperature of 21.0 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 33.0 degrees Celsius, with rain expected.
Bengaluru Rain Affects Several Areas
Heavy rainfall has impacted over 160 civic wards in just a few hours, straining the drainage systems. Areas such as Doddanekundi, Hagdoor, K.R. Puram, Basavanapura, and Ramamurthy Nagar recorded rainfall between 25–28 mm by early evening. This situation worsened as rainwater flooded roads, particularly in low-lying regions like Jakkur, Devasandra and Yelahanka New Town.
Despite the challenges posed by the rain, many residents are appreciating the cooler temperatures following a period of extreme heat, which had seen the mercury rise to 36 degrees Celsius. The recent showers have provided a much-needed break from the sweltering summer.
Karnataka Weather Forecast
Wind patterns at lower levels and atmospheric convergence are expected to bring widespread thunderstorms to South Karnataka today. Moderate to severe thunderstorms are likely to affect districts like Mangaluru, Kodagu, Mysuru, Madikeri, Hassan, Shivamogga, and Chickmagaluru by afternoon or evening. Light rain is also expected in Tumakuru, and Davanagere areas.
