Karnataka Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that several districts of Karnataka are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall in the late hours of Sunday. The weather department stated that the coastal regions will witness thunderstorms and gusty winds along with the heavy rain. While the continuous rainfall is likely to reduce the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius, it is also expected to lead to issues like waterlogging in cities like Bengaluru. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

While providing details, the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) stated that the coastal, Malnad, and south interior districts will witness heavy rains in the late hours of Sunday. However, it clarified that the state is not likely to witness rainfall for the next few days. "Scattered to widespread moderate rain with strong winds accompanied by thundershowers and isolated heavy rains is likely to occur in the north interior districts of the state till September 28. Coastal, Malnad and south interior districts will witness heavy rains today," KSNDMC stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

It stated that along with the rainfall, the residents of Bengaluru are also expected to experience light breezes and cloudy skies. The weather department stated that while the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 27 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 21 degrees Celsius.

The IMD has advised the fishermen to follow the guidelines and maintain a distance from the water bodies to avoid inconveniences. The weather department stated that apart from Karnataka, several other states, including Maharashtra, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal, are also likely to witness light to moderate rainfall for the next few days.
