Karnataka Weather Update: Karnataka has received a lot of rain in the past few days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘red alert’ for extremely heavy showers in parts of Coastal Karnataka till September 2.
There has been widespread disruption due to the rains in Dakshina Kannada, Chikkamagaluru, and Shivamogga. The weather department has informed that heavy rain will continue in many districts of Karnataka till September 5, post which the rainfall is expected to subside.
Fishermen living along the coastal districts are advised not to venture out into the open sea, owing to the precarious conditions along the coastal areas. According to the IMD, the rain may cause temporary power outages, minor traffic disruptions, and uprooting of weak tree branches.
The public is advised to stay indoors, close doors and windows, avoid unnecessary travel, unplug electrical appliances, seek safe shelter away from trees or water bodies, and drive carefully.
Which Are The Districts To Face Heavy Rainfall?
The IMD has issued alerts for the various districts of Karnataka:
Orange Alert: Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, and Udupi districts.
Yellow Alert: Belgaum, Dharwad, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, and Shivamogga districts.
Furthermore, the IMD has said that the rainfall in the interior districts will decrease from September.
