In a disturbing incident, a 38-year-old woman in Karnataka allegedly murdered her 12-year-old daughter before taking her own life in Shivamogga, within the nurse’s quarters of a government hospital.

The tragic scene was discovered when the woman’s husband, a lab technician at the hospital, came home after a night shift and found the door locked, NDTV reported. With the help of neighbors, he broke it open and discovered his daughter, Poorvika, with fatal head injuries.

The mother, Shruti, was found hanging above her daughter’s body. Initial investigations indicate she may have been struggling with mental health issues. Authorities have registered a case of murder and unnatural death and are exploring other possible motives.

This heartbreaking case closely follows another incident that occurred just days earlier. In Ullal, a 27-year-old nurse was reportedly murdered by her husband, who later died by suicide.

That incident came to light on September 28, when the woman’s father returned from Tumakuru with relatives and found the home in Government Press Layout locked from inside. Using a spare key from the landlord, they entered the house and discovered the bodies of Manju (27) and her husband Dharmaseelan (29) in the same room.

The father alleged that Dharmaseelan had killed Manju before hanging himself.

Manju had been staying with her parents, while Dharmaseelan, a laborer from Pinnalavadi village in Tamil Nadu had been working in Dubai. The couple married in September 2022, and Dharmaseelan had recently returned to India, staying with Manju in Tamil Nadu about a month before the incident.
