IN THE fresh development of the Kozhikode train fire incident, a joint team of Central Intelligence and Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) Maharashtra nabbed the absconding accused who was on the run after the crime from Ratnagiri district on Wednesday.
As per the official of the Maharashtra ATS, as quoted by news agency ANI, a team of Kerala police has also reached Ratnagiri and the accused will be handed over to them soon.

- Kerala DGP said the accused has been taken into custody and he will be brought back to the state for detailed interrogation.
- The development in the case came after the Inspector General of the Railway Protection Force, Easwara Rao visited the incident area on Tuesday and said the accused will be arrested soon.
"This is an unfortunate incident. We are reviewing the security gaps. We need to install CCTVs in railway coaches and smaller railway stations. We are confident of apprehending the accused," Rao told media persons.
- In a shocking incident, a man allegedly poured petrol on a co-passenger and set him on fire over an argument on a moving train.
- The incident took place inside the D1 compartment of the Alappuzha-Kannur Main Executive Express train near Elathur in Kozhikode district on Sunday night.
- According to a railway official, there was an argument during which a man poured petrol and set on fire one of his co-passengers.
- At least three people including a year-old infant were killed while eight people were injured in the tragedy.
- On Tuesday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) team reached the Kannur district to investigate the case.
- The development in the case came after Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday directed the police to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident and bring out all the details of the incident before the law.
- He said the special investigation team (SIT) will be formed to probe the tragedy in which a man set a co-passenger on fire.
