Kerala Weather: The Central Meteorological Department has predicted widespread rainfall across Kerala over the next five days and issued orange and yellow alerts in several districts. The department has warned of heavy to very heavy rain in some areas and advised residents to remain alert to the changing weather conditions.
Kerala Weather: Orange Alert Issued
An orange alert has been issued for Kozhikode and Kannur districts on October 27, indicating the likelihood of very heavy rainfall at isolated locations. The department said that rainfall between 115.6 mm and 204.4 mm is expected within 24 hours in these regions.

Kerala Weather: Yellow Alert Issued
Meanwhile, several districts have been placed under yellow alerts for the coming days.
- On October 25, Kannur and Kasaragod are likely to experience heavy rain.
- On October 26, the alert covers Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.
- On October 27, Alappuzha, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Wayanad, and Kasaragod are expected to receive heavy rainfall.
- On October 28, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam districts have been included under the alert.
The department defines heavy rainfall as 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm within 24 hours.
Kerala Weather: Thunderstorms Likely In THESE Districts
Thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds of up to 40 kmph are also likely in parts of Thiruvananthapuram, Idukki, Ernakulam and Kasaragod in the next few hours.
Authorities have urged residents in landslide-prone and low-lying areas to move to safer locations as a precaution. People living near riverbanks and downstream of dams have been asked to remain vigilant and follow evacuation instructions issued by local officials.
Those living in homes with weak structures or roofs have been advised to take special care due to the risk of strong winds. Residents are encouraged to stay in touch with local authorities and shift to relief camps if necessary.
