As many as four persons were killed after a passenger vehicle lost control and plunged into a deep gorge several hundred feet below in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar. One person was injured in the incident.
Upon receiving the information, local residents rushed to the scene and descended into the gorge to rescue the injured person, pulling them out of the vehicle and getting them to the hospital. The police are now working to identify the deceased and notify their families.
According to Kishtwar police, five people were travelling in the vehicle towards Jammu when the driver lost control at a sharp turn in the Sanyas Padar area. The vehicle then plunged into the deep gorge. While four people died on the spot, one person sustained injuries. The locals, upon receiving the distress call, informed the police and helped in extracting the injured and the bodies from the wrecked car.
The police are continuing their investigation and working to notify the families of the victims. Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh also spoke to Deputy Commissioner of Kishtwar over the matter.

“Got in touch with DC #Kishtwar, Sh Rajesh Kumar Shavan immediately after receiving the report of a road accident at Sanyas in Paddar area. 5 persons were travelling in the vehicle. Rescue teams have been put into action. I am regularly receiving the updates,” the minister added.

The deceased individuals have been identified as Raj Kumar, Mukesh Kumar, Haqiqat Singh and Satish Kumar, as per News 18.
