Kolkata Metro: The Kolkata Metro Railway on Friday introduced several commuter-friendly amenities at the Esplanade station and Howrah station along both the Blue and Green Line corridors. These facilities include reclining chairs and digital lockers.

The facilities were inaugurated by the Metro Railway General Manager, P. Uday Kumar Reddy at the Howrah station building complex on the Green Line (Howrah Maidan–Esplanade corridor) and at Esplanade station on the Blue Line (Dakshineswar–New Garia corridor).

The facility could now be used by the commuters to relax in reclining chairs after a tiring journey and choose body massage options.

The facility of digital lockers will also help commuters in securely storing their valuable belongings for a specified duration at affordable rates.

Speaking about the expansion of the facilities, the Kolkata Metro Railway spokesperson said such facilities will also be rolled out in some other stations along the Blue Line and Green Line corridors.

Additional services on Blue Line for UPSC exam

On Sunday, the Metro Railway Kolkata will run additional services of the blue line corridor for the UPSC Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2025. The Kolkata Metro will run eight additional services on the blue line, bringing the total services to 138. Normally, 130 services run on this route.

The first service from Kavi Subhash to Dakshineswar and from Noapara to Kavi Subhash will start at 7:00 am. On the Dakshineswar to Kavi Subhash route, the first service will start at 7:20 am.

After 9:00 am, the services will run according to the normal Sunday routine. Between 7:00 am to 9:00 am, the up and down services will be available at an interval of 30 minutes. The timings of the last train will remain unchanged.
