Kolkata Metro Update: In anticipation of a surge in passenger traffic during the Durga Puja festivities, the Kolkata Metro has announced an increase in frequency of services and trains on the Green Line. The Green Line, which runs between Howrah Maidan and Salt Lake Sector V, witnessed a higher footfall on Saturday, September 19, with over 2.09 lakh passengers travelling on the stretch.

According to authorities, reduced waiting times and more frequent metro services will provide a reliable and more efficient mode of transportation for passengers across the city.

Kolkata Metro: Green Line Services Increased To 226

- Starting Monday, September 22, the number of metro train services on the Green Line from Monday to Saturday will increase to 226, news agency PTI quoted a metro spokesperson as saying.

- To manage the increased passenger rush during Durga Puja, the services have been increased to 226, up from the usual 186.

- Additionally, the metro train will run at an interval of every six minutes on the Green Line during morning and evening peak hours.

- The Kolkata Metro has increased the frequency of metro trains to every six minutes from the earlier eight-minute gaps to cater to rising demand.

Kolkata Metro Green Line Services On Sunday: Check Details

- In addition to this, the Kolkata Metro has made special arrangements for Mahalaya on Sunday, September 21, which marks the beginning of Devi Paksha and the onset of the Durga Puja celebrations.

- On Sunday, a total of 136 services are scheduled for operations compared to the usual 104 services on a typical Sunday.

- Out of 136 services, 68 will run in the UP direction and the other 68 will run in the DOWN Direction compared to 52 UP and 52 DOWN on a usual Sunday.
