Kolkata Metro News: Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation has decided to run early services on Sunday to cater to additional requirements due to WBSSC recruitment exams. The move is intended to provide a time-efficient public travel mode to candidates so that they can reach their examination centres on time.
The additional service will run on both the blue line and green line, as metros usually operate late on Sunday due to comparatively fewer crowds. The service will operate from 7 am to the usual time at night.

The blue line of the Kolkata metro network connects Dakshineswar to Kavi Subhash, while the green line improves connectivity between Howrah Maidan and Salt Lake Sector V. The additional service will benefit the candidates appearing for the State Level Selection Test (SLST) conducted by the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC), and particularly those who come from far-flung areas.
"For the benefit of SSC recruitment test candidates, normal services will be run from 7 am on both stretches on September 7," a spokesperson said.
It was further informed by the spokesperson that there will be no traffic block between Shahid Khudiram and Mahanayak Uttam Kumar stations on the Blue Line to ensure normal Sunday services across the entire stretch from Dakshineswar to Shahid Khudiram.
