The Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET), organized by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC), began today at 66 centers across the city. A total of 95,040 candidates are registered for the two-day exam, which will be held in four shifts. The first shift on Saturday was conducted peacefully from 10 am to 12 am, with the second shift scheduled from 2 pm to 4 pm.
Three-Tier Administrative Monitoring
To ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the exam, the district administration has implemented a comprehensive three-tier monitoring system:
- A Static Magistrate has been posted at each examination center.
- Concerned SDMs (Sub-Divisional Magistrates) and ACMs (Assistant Commissioner Magistrates) have been appointed as Sector Magistrates.
- The entire city has been divided into five super zones, with four ADMs (Additional District Magistrates) and an Additional Municipal Commissioner appointed as Super Zonal Magistrates to oversee the proceedings.
Special Focus On Civic Amenities
District Magistrate (DM) Dr VK Singh has issued special instructions to various departments to prevent any inconvenience to the candidates:
Waterlogging: In light of potential rain, the Municipal Commissioner has been strictly instructed to ensure that waterlogging does not obstruct the routes to any exam center, so no candidate is delayed or misses the exam.
Health And Power: The CMO (Chief Medical Officer) has been directed to provide a medical kit at every center and arrange for ambulances in designated clusters. The local power corporation has been asked to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply.
Comprehensive Security And Traffic Blueprint
Expecting a footfall of nearly 2.5 lakh people over the two days, the police have rolled out a robust security and traffic plan:
Traffic Management: For smooth traffic flow, the city has been divided into six zones, each managed by a Traffic Inspector with a special deployment of 120 police personnel.
Security Measures: All 66 centers are under the surveillance of 1,000 CCTV cameras. A team of five police personnel, including a sub-inspector, is stationed at each center. Additional forces have been deployed at railway and bus stations, while intelligence units like the LIU (Local Intelligence Unit) are also active.
Special Facility: A temporary police post with a public address (PA) system has been set up at the railway station to provide information to candidates about their centers or lost belongings.
Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Vipin Tada stated that "the entire plan has been designed to ensure that candidates do not face traffic jams while leaving the exam centers and can reach their destinations safely."
