Kolkata: The Eastern Railway has announced two additional air-conditioned EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) trains in the Sealdah division to manage Durga Puja rush heading towards West Bengal's Kolkata this year. The new trains will run on the Sealdah-Bongaon and Sealdah-Krishnanagar City Junction routes.

Sealdah-Bongaon Stops

Bidhannagar, Dumdum, Dumdum Cantonment, Madhyamgram, Barasat, Dattapukur, Habra, Gobardanga, and Thakurnagar.

Sealdah-Krishnanagar Stops

Bidhannagar, Dumdum, Belgharia, Sodepur, Khardah, Barrackpore, Shyamnagar, Naihati, Kanchrapara, Kalyani, Chakdah, and Ranaghat.

The AC local on the Sealdah-Bongaon route will continue to Ranaghat after reaching Bongaon, Sealdah Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Rajiv Saxena stated, as per an IndiaTV report.

Facilities Provided

The 12-coach rake developed at ICF can accommodate 1,100 passengers. Coaches have sliding doors on both sides, CCTV cameras, and GPS-based passenger information systems and rear coaches reserved for women. The ticket rates will range between Rs 35 and Rs 120, as per the report.

Earlier, the railway had announced special festival trains from Sealdah to Patna in the upcoming months to manage the crowd. The authority stated that the additional trains will operate during Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath to provide convenience to the passengers. The authority stated that the decision was taken after receiving multiple requests from the passengers, adding that the move will benefit the residents of several states, including West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar. The authority has advised the passengers to follow the guidelines and plan their travel accordingly to avoid any inconveniences.
