A search operation in the Gudar forest area of Kulgam in South Kashmir, following information about the presence of terrorists, led to the encounter after the terrorists opened fire on security forces. The encounter, which is code-named Operation Guddar, is currently underway in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.

"Based on specific intelligence input by JKP, a joint search operation was launched by #IndianArmy, @JmuKmrPolice & @crpf_srinagar in Guddar forest of #Kulgam," the Chinar Corps of the Army said in a post on X earlier in the day.
Officials also confirmed that the two terrorists killed in the encounter belonged to the Lashkar-e-Taiba, as per reports. Initial reports purportedly revealed that one of them was a local militant, while the other one was a foreigner and was operating under the code name ‘Rahman Bhai’
The Kashmir Zone Police had earlier said on X, "Based on specific intelligence, an encounter has started in the Guddar forest of the Kulgam. SOG of J&K Police, Army and CRPF on the job. Further details to follow."
The National Investigation Agency was conducting raids at 22 locations across five states and Jammu & Kashmir in a terror conspiracy case when the encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Kulgam.
