A Punjab Roadways driver was murdered with an iron rod at the Kurali bus stand in Mohali district on Tuesday evening. The deceased driver has been identified as 36-year-old Jagjit Singh. He was posted at the Jalandhar Roadways depot, and the bus was traveling from Chandigarh to Jalandhar.
At the Kurali light point, the bus driver honked to get a side, which enraged the driver of a Bolero. The Bolero driver then attacked Jagjit Singh in the chest with an iron rod, leaving him seriously injured. With the help of the roadways conductor and passersby, the injured Jagjit was rushed to the Kurali Civil Hospital. After administering first aid, doctors referred him to Mohali.
Doctors there declared him dead. Chanan Singh, an employee at the Jalandhar depot, stated that Jagjit Singh was a resident of MalowalTangra village (Amritsar). The accused, identified as Sukhjit Singh, is a resident of Padiala village in Kurali and has been arrested by the police.
The driver had left for Chandigarh with the bus on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred on the return trip from Chandigarh. Upon reaching Kurali, an argument broke out with the Bolero driver at the light point near the bus stand over honking for a side, which led to the fatal attack.

The Kurali police have initiated an investigation based on a complaint filed by Punjab Roadways. DSP Dharamvir Singh also confirmed that the accused has been arrested and an investigation has begun.
