In a tragic incident, a teacher returning home with his family was killed on the Neemuch-Jawad Road in Madhya Pradesh after an Assistant Sub-Inspector of the state police rammed multiple motorcycles.

The cop, identified as Manoj Yadav, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when the incident took place near Bharbhadia village in Neemuch on Friday night.

While the teacher, identified as Dasrath, son of Shambhu Singh (42), died on the spot, his wife and two children were critically injured. The eyewitnesses recounted the horror, saying that the ASI was so heavily drunk that he could barely stand.

The smell of alcohol was coming out of his car, and an empty bottle with a glass was also recovered from the inside.

The deceased's wife, Lalita Bai (35), son Harshit (10), and daughter Jaya (6) were rushed to the hospital after the accident. Apart from them, another man was injured in the accident.

They were taken to the district hospital with the help of a passerby and an ambulance. While the doctors declared Shambhu dead, the injured were referred to a higher medical facility.

Enraged by the incident, the residents protested at the spot. The senior officials of the district administration and police also reached the spot, given the seriousness of the situation. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.

Earlier on November 3, a paramilitary personnel, under the influence of alcohol, ran over four pedestrians outside the Bhopal railway station. The accused, identified as Constable Rajendra, attempted to flee the scene but was stopped by bystanders and handed over to the police.

Bhopal’s Station House Officer Ajay Soni confirmed that all four injured victims were immediately taken to a nearby hospital. The police have sent Rajendra for a medical examination to determine if he was driving under the influence of alcohol.
