Madhya Pradesh: Three Dead, Over 20 Injured After Tazia Touches High-Voltage Power Line In Ratlam

Ratlam Tazia Procession: In a tragic incident, three people died and 20 others got severely injured after a 10-foot-tall Tazia came into contact with a high-voltage power line during a Muharram procession in Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam district on Thursday. As per the eyewitnesses, the incident occurred when the Tazia procession was passing near the Panchmukhi Mahadev Temple, leading to panic among the devotees and the locals.

Tazia Touches High-Voltage Power Line 

The locals rushed the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment; however, the seriously injured individuals were referred to Ratlam Medical College Hospital for further treatment. The doctors confirmed the death of one person during treatment at the medical college. Apart from this, two other individuals were taken to a private hospital where they reportedly died. However, their death is yet to be confirmed by the district administration or the health department.

As per the reports, approximately 200 people were part of the grand Tazia procession in the Ratlam district. They were carrying the Tazia with enthusiasm; however, panic erupted when it came in contact with the power line. The officials from the police and electricity departments, upon receiving the information, arrived at the site and began their probe.

MP Police Begins Probe

As per the reports, a large number of villagers rushed to the hospitals and sought justice from the administration. The Madhya Pradesh police began the investigation into the matter after taking initial information from the eyewitnesses. As per the reports, the injured are undergoing treatment, and official number of deaths and injury is likely to change.
