Delhi Police PCR Van Accident: A person died after a Police Control Room (PCR) van of the Delhi Police ran over him in the Thana Mandir Marg area of Delhi on Thursday. The Delhi Police said, the driver accidentally pressed the accelerator after which the vehicle hit a roadside tea stall.

Two Delhi Policemen Suspended

The Delhi Police took action against the two personnel. "Both police officers, ASI and a constable, have been suspended. The FIR is being filed. A medical examination of both police personnel will be conducted," police said, adding two police personnel who were in the van have been apprehended. Their medical examination is being conducted, they added.

"A road accident involving a PCR van of Delhi Police took place in the Thana Mandir Marg area of Delhi. One person died in the accident. The driver of the PCR van of Delhi Police accidentally pressed the accelerator, due to which the PCR van, while climbing the roadside ramp, ran over a person, who died. Currently, the police are on the spot and gathering information," the Delhi Police said in a statement.

A Tea Seller Killed In Accident

A tea seller was killed after the PCR van rammed into his roadside stall in central Delhi on Thursday morning. The victim was identified as 55-year-old Gangaram. He was sleeping at his tea shop when the incident took place around 5 am. His son lives with him in Delhi, while his wife resides in Gonda in Uttar Pradesh. The body has been sent for postmortem and further investigation is underway, police said.
