Manipur Violence: A Meitei group Arambai Tenggol member was arrested for alleged involvement in the murder of a differently-abled man in the Imphal West district. According to police, the arrested accused admitted that the man died while they “questioned him” over an theft attempt and later buried his body near a riverbank.
Longjam Khaba alias Boi (35), is the main accused in the murder of Chesam Abdul Kadir (29). Kadir had about 65 per cent physical disability, police said as per a Hindustan Times report. The victim’s body was found on June 17, days after Arambai Tengol members allegedly abducted him.

Protesters had come out in the streets demanding action against Kadir’s killers. Nine people of which six were Arambai Tengol members, were earlier arrested in the case.
Earlier in June, protests erupted in Manipur's capital, Imphal as locals took to the streets demanding the release of Meitei outfit Arambai Tenggol member Kanan Singh and four others arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
As per the CBI, the arrest was made due to Kanan Singh's involvement in criminal activities during the 2023 ethnic violence in Manipur, which sparked widespread unrest across the state, particularly in five districts.
